Choose Life The Christmas storytellers, Matthew and Luke begin with Jesus’ conception. When Matthew sets out to tell us about the Nativity, he first talks of events taking place during the pregnancy. Luke gives us even more details of the pregnancy. The message? Jesus was conceived through the power of the Holy Spirit. He was God from the moment of conception.  [Life Date, The National Newsletter of Lutherans for Life, Winter, 1998]
