Healing Mass
Mass
this coming Friday June 1st is the First Friday of the Month. We
are encouraging as many people as possible to participate in this Mass of Healing, where
we pray to God for health of mind, soul and body. This Mass will be at 10:00am Friday
morning. Hopefully our Knights of Columbus will furnish a little breakfast so we can have
time for fellowship and conversation.
Memorial
Day
We take this opportunity to
wish you all a happy peaceful Memorial Day with family and friends. If you are traveling
please be careful. Let us remember with love those who have gone before us and served our
country, and those who are in harms way each day because of
war. Mass will be at 9:00am.
Blood Drive
We are coming to beg again for the
gift of life through the very selfless gift of giving blood. Our Blood Drive is June 10th
immediately starting at 10:00am thru 2:00pm. Please sign on the list provided in the
vestibule as you leave church.
Daily Mass
Now that
school is out and there is a little more leisure time, there is no better up bringing for
our children then to take them to Mass from time to time and explain its benefits.
RIP
Your
prayers are requested for the happy repose of the soul of Tootie
Perrin whom the Lord called home this week. May God grant her eternal rest and may God Bless her family and friends.
Sharing Your Blessings
We thank
all those at St. Peters who have generously given to the annual Catholic Service Appeal,
Sharing Your Blessings. We ask those who have not sent in your pledge to
please consider a gift to support training our future priests, faith formation of young
adults, providing help to those in need, and retired priests.
God is able to
make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. (2
Corinthians 9:8). Each of us is called to respond in faith, knowing and trusting that God
recognizes your willingness to live out the message of the Gospel. Please go on line to www.jacksondiocese.org
to learn more about the Catholic Service Appeal or
to make an on line
donation.

Choose
Life
When the time comes when parents are
able to select the genetic traits of their offspring, I would not oppose selecting
for intelligence. We could assume that people of higher intelligence would have good
consequences for society. This statement from Peter Singer, philosopher, author and
professor of bioethics at Princeton University, led columnist Jeff Jacoby to question the
good consequences produced by Mr. Singers intelligence through his advocacy of a
28-day period during which newborns could be killed and his conclusion that breeding
children for spare parts is not something really wrong in itself. (Jeff Jacoby, Boston Globe, 3/4/09)
