Healing Mass… Mass this
coming Friday August 3rd is the First Friday of the Month. We are
encouraging as many people as possible to participate in this Mass of Healing,
where we pray to God for health of mind, soul and body. This Mass will be at
10:00 Friday morning. Hopefully our Knights of Columbus will furnish a little
breakfast so we can have time for fellowship and conversation.
Special Time… This is to remind everybody that Mass next Sunday August
the 5th WILL BE AT 8:00am NOT 9:00 For Next Sunday
Only.
Vacation… I
will be leaving next Sunday afternoon, August 5th for a few weeks in
Ireland with family and friends. You will be remembered in my daily Masses and
prayers you might remember me in your prayers. MR
Welcome… We welcome Father Al Camp who has again agreed to
take care of us in Father Ruane’s absence. I know you
will make him welcomed and listen to his words of wisdom.
Mass Servers… We are running a little low on Mass Servers at the
moment because those who were very faithful have moved and this time of the
year especially some are out of town on the weekends. It is a wonderful
privilege to serve Mass and wonderful training for our young people. I would be
most grateful if you would give your name to Father Ruane
or call the Rectory and we will organize this group.
During August… While Father Ruane is away
unfortunately we will not be able to have daily Mass, the weekday services
during the month of August will be a Communion service on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. Please avail of the
opportunity to follow the Scripture for these days at church and to receive the
Lord in Holy Communion.
Diocese Of Jackson 175th
Anniversary … in celebration of the diocese’s 175th Anniversary a special
t-shirt with the 175th diocesan logo and the diocesan coat of arms
has been designed and can be ordered by going to the diocesan web page www.jacksondiocese.org or by calling the Dept of Evangelization at
601-960-8474. The cast is $15.00 each.
Genesis … Coming to our diocese in
August, Spring Hill College will offer the course Genesis which
will be taught in the traditional classroom format at St. Joseph Catholic
School. Contact Jeanne Howard, Director, at the Diocesan office at 601-960-8473
for information and registration.
Choose Life… Allowing the use of public funds for embryonic
stem-cell research is “without ethical or scientific justification,” stated the
president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life. President Obama’s
executive order (3/9/09) to allow this funding is based on “utilitarian logic”
that fails to take into account the fact that embryos are human beings. “It is
about the destruction of human beings in order to turn them into material for
experimentation.” (Southern Cross, March, 2009)
“Moving In And Out”… Summer
time is often a time of transitions for families. We want to say farewell to
any people who may be leaving and thank you for your participation in our
parish. We also wish to welcome any new individuals or families at St. Peter
Parish and we invite you to make yourself known to us and to register with the
parish. Parish registration forms are available in the vestibule, or call the
Parish Office at 662-226-2490.
