Red Beans and Rice Our Church Family is invited to participate in a red beans and rice supper on Tuesday evening, February 21st, after the 6:00pm Mass and before Ash Wednesday. This is traditionally known as Fat Tuesday, to eat all you want and all you can before the Holy Season of Lent begins. The Knights will prepare the red beans and rice, the church family is to bring salad or desert whichever you wish. (If you want to fix a Pancake, I’ll bet Fr. Ruane gets to it first.) We have an addendum to add… we will have hot dogs for the children and Harvey’s best Jambalaya.

Holy...    We begin the Holy Season of Lent this week on Ash Wed. It is a day of fast and abstinence [one full meal, two

Season  snacks]. The Friday’s of Lent are days of abstinence, with the exception of Good Friday, which is a day of fast

of Lent and abstinence. Traditionally just about every Catholic likes to begin the Holy Season of Lent by going to Mass.

Lent At  During the Holy Season of Lent we will have in addition to our regular daily Mass schedule, The Way of the

St. Peter Cross, Holy Communion, and a short meditation followed by a light supper, probably soup, salad & fellowship.

Choose Life Writer Frederica Mathews-Green has pointed out that: “No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.”
