Why Catholic? Our next session of “Why Catholic?” is to begin in conjunction with the Holy Season of Lent. However, to make reasonably sure we get done before Holy Week why don’t we make the week of February 28, the week we start.

Important The facilitator is a very important part of the success of “Why Catholic?” Preparation is very important, so we thank our facilitators for a job well done in the past and hope that our next session of “Why Catholic?” will be the best yet. Please call or e-mail the members of your group and let them know when you will be starting.

Not Too LateWe are very anxious to have as many of our people as possible to take part in our “Why Catholic?” For this reason we are making registration cards available at the Masses this weekend. Remember, we will be using the same book for this session as the last.

Eucharistic Ministers We have added several new Eucharistic Ministers recently and they will be serving as they are assigned. This is the most special ministry of our Catholic Faith. We are asking everybody to be faithful when they are assigned and when unable to serve to find a replacement.

Religious EducationWe ask parents to make attendance to religious education class a priority in their child’s weekly schedule. Children are required to attend classes in preparation for the Sacraments and their regular religious formation. Class times are K thru 12th grade, on Sunday at 10:15am until 11:15am.

Cursillo A women’s Cursillo will be held March 10-13, 2011 and a men’s Cursillo March 17-20, 2011 at the Duncan Gray Center north of Canton. These will be the 127th and 128th Cursillos held in the Diocese of Jackson. Anybody interested please contact Father Ruane at 662-226-2490.

Choose Life The “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” would, if passed, institute a permanent, government-wide statutory ban on federal funding of abortion. “Every reputable poll shows that large majorities of Americans want no complicity whatsoever in paying for the evil of abortion,” stated Rep. Chris Smith, chief sponsor of the bill.   (Population Research Institute press release, 7/29/10)
