Penance Service
Our Lenten Penance Service
is set for Tuesday, April 5th at 6:15pm please try to keep this
date open for this very important gathering.
St. James Epistle
Confess therefore your sins
to one another and pray for one another that you may be saved. James 5:16
Welcome and Thanks
to the priests who are
traveling for a distance to help us with our Penance Service, and they are Fr. Mike
OBrien, Jackson, Fr. Pat Noonan, Canton, Fr. Gerald Hurley, Flowood, Fr. Sam Messina, Batesville, and Yours
Truly, Grenada.
Why
Catholic?
We hope that our groups are meeting
faithfully and that our leaders are reminding them. Even if you havent participated
thus far, the remaining sessions would be very valuable. We are still hoping that all
groups will finish before Holy Week.
The R.C.I.A
will meet a week from
this Tuesday, April 12th
right after the 6:00pm Mass, and will be a wrap-up session as we wind down for final
preparations before Holy Week.
Confirmation
We will have a retreat for our confirmandi
on April 13th. Our young people are asked to come
Retreat April 13
directly from school to St.
Peters. We will have a hamburger supper for them, their sponsors and
parents at approximately 6:00pm.
Catholic Service Appeal
The annual Catholic Service
Appeal, Pave the Way, supports many central ministries that help provide the
spiritual, educational and social needs of many within our diocese. Bishop Joseph Latino
is asking each parishioner to prayerfully consider your gift to the CSA. Joined together
as a faith family we can accomplish so much for our diocese. More details next week, the
offering will be taken up the weekend of April 30th / May 1st.
Lent At St. Peter Church
Let us all make a special
effort to make Lent a special time in Our Church.
Here are some
suggestions:
4. A
good confession by participating
6. A kinder, gentler people
1. Daily Mass when
possible.
in our Penance Service.
7. Less negative gossip.
2. Participating in
Why Catholic?
5. Prayer when possible in the home
8. More kindness , compassion,
3. Participating in the

the family.
and
affirmation.
Choose Life
During Lent, it is good to
think about Jesus words, Amen I say to you, what you did not do for one of
these least ones, you did not do for me. If we do nothing to work for the protection
of these least ones, we do nothing for Jesus. (COLFS Newsletter, San
Diego, 11/07)
