SPECIAL COLLECTION

The special collection this week is for the Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe.  There are brochures available in the back of Church if you would like more information about this collection.

BISHOP’S CUP

Join us for the Annual Bishop’s Cup Golf Tournament, Wednesday, September 13th at Colonial Country Club in Jackson.  This year part of the net proceeds will help support our priests’ retirement through the Bishop Brunini Trust.  The tournament includes a social and dinner, as well as silent and live auctions and the new Latino Lira.  Get a foursome together and see if we can bring the Bishop’s Cup home to our parish.  Registration forms are in the back of the church.  Support the charitable works of the Catholic Foundation.  For more information, call (601)960-8479.

RCIA

The RCIA is the usual way that people come into full communion with the Catholic Church.  If you or anyone you know is interested in the Catholic faith, would like a refresher course in the Catholic faith, or have lapsed from the Catholic faith, we will begin a very special class around the end of September or beginning of October.   More information will be available on this when Father Ruane returns.

CHOOSE LIFE

A frequently heard claim contends that embryonic stem cells “are, at present, the most useful kind of cells for medical research.”  This advocacy flies in the face of the fact that not one successful therapy has been developed using embryonic stem cells while stem cells from morally acceptable sources are producing positive therapeutic cells for a wide variety of diseases and conditions.  Letter to the Editor byMark Hartman, 3/15/06 San Diego Union-Tribune.

CATHOLIC MEN’S CONFERENCE

The third annual Catholic Man’s conference, “Who do you say that I am?”, is set for August 18 – 20, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale.  The conference begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and ends Sunday at 12:00 noon.  For more information, please pick up a brochure in the church vestibule.

LADIES AUXILIARY

The Ladies Auxiliary has religious articles for sale.  They will be available after mass, in the CAB.  If you are interested in purchasing some, you may contact Rosa Buzzarde for more information.

The deadline for announcements for the bulletin will be on Thursday at noon.  Please contact the rectory at

226-2490, or send an email to stpeter@cableone.net.
