Bible School will resume this weekend.  The Youth Lenten Gathering will also resume with dinner and devotion this evening (March 18) at 5:00 pm

RCIA

RCIA class will resume Tuesday, after 6:00 pm mass.  The topics will be Marriage and Anointing.  Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to be anointed.

LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE

This is the week for our Lenten Penance Service.  I am hoping that a great many of our people avail of this opportunity to use this sacrament of God’s love and mercy as a special preparation of ourselves for the Lord at Easter.  I hope to see you all Wednesday, March 21 at 6:00 pm.

WELCOME AND THANKS - Sincere gratitude to the priests who are willing to help us (some from a great distance) with our penance service. We welcome Father Noonan, Father Hurley, Father Delaney, and Father Messina.

WAY OF THE CROSS

We will have the Way of the Cross, and Benediction of the most holy Blessed Sacrament on Friday at 6:00 pm.  Some people have asked for Benediction, and what better time to have it than during the holy season of Lent.

YEAR OF THE CHILD

Bishop Latino, along with the Episcopal and Methodist Bishops of Mississippi, has declared 2007 the “Year of the Child”.   We are fortunate to host Sister Donna Gunn, who has been speaking throughout Mississippi on this topic.  Please join us after mass on Sunday, March 25th in the Family Life Center for coffee and doughnuts, and to hear Sister Donna as she discusses the greatest concerns for children in our area.

LIFE LINE SCREENING

Do you avoid milk products?  Have you been taking steroids for an extended period of time?  Is there a lack of weight bearing exercise in your daily routine?  If yes, you may want to consider being screened for osteoporosis risk.  The FDA has now approved osteoporosis screening for men!  More than half of the 1.5 million people Life Line Screening serves are at moderate or high risk for bone loss.  St Peters Catholic Church is hosting a screening on Thursday, March 29th.   Call 1.800.324.1851 for more information or to pre-register.  The cost of this screening is $129 for all four tests.

GRENADA HOLY WEEK SERVICE

St. Peter Catholic Church will be responsible for the Holy Week Service at the Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 2nd.  We will need someone to make the tuna salad and cucumber spread for the sandwiches, 2 sheet cakes, and 4 ladies to work from 9:30.  If you are able to volunteer for this, please contact Gerry Morris at 417-1160.  We invite anyone available to attend and listen to the wonderful speaker at lunch (Father Ruane)!

MASS OF CHRISM

The Mass of Chrism will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle on Tuesday, April 3rd at 5:45 pm.  Anyone interested in attending can contact the rectory for more information.
