SPRING BREAK

Due to spring break, we will not be having our Youth Lenten gathering this weekend.   It will resume on March 18 at 5:00.  Supper will be served.  There are no Bible School classes this Sunday, they will resume on March 18.

RCIA

Because some of our regulars will not be able to be with us, and also because of spring break, we will not meet this week.  We will resume on Tuesday, March 20.  Our topics will be anointing and matrimony.

WAY OF THE CROSS

We will have the Way of the Cross, and Benediction of the most holy Blessed Sacrament on Friday at 6:00 pm.  Some people have asked for Benediction, and what better time to have it than during the holy season of Lent.

YEAR OF THE CHILD

Bishop Latino, along with the Episcopal and Methodist Bishops of Mississippi, has declared 2007 the “Year of the Child”.   We are fortunate to host Sister Donna Gunn, who has been speaking throughout Mississippi on this topic.  Please join us after mass on Sunday, March 25th in the Family Life Center for coffee and doughnuts, and to hear Sister Donna as she discusses the greatest concerns for children in our area.

LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE

Please mark your calendars dear friends, and plan to join us for our reconciliation/penance/confession service on Wednesday, March 21st, at 6:00 pm.  I will have several priests available for this very important Lenten service.

LIFE LINE SCREENING

10 MINUTES THAT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE! - Do you have high blood pressure?  Are you more than 30 pounds overweight?  Are you male?  If yes, you may want to consider being screened for abdominal aortic aneurysm risk.  Life Line Screening screens the aorta for aneurysms as warning signs are vague and if ruptured, they are 80-94% fatal.  St Peters Catholic Church is hosting a screening on Thursday, March 29th.   Call 1.800.324.1851 for more information or to pre-register.  The cost of this screening is $129 for all four tests.

GRENADA HOLY WEEK SERVICE

St. Peter Catholic Church will be responsible for the Holy Week Service at the Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 2nd.  We will need someone to make the tuna salad and cucumber spread for the sandwiches, 2 sheet cakes, and 4 ladies to work from 9:30.  If you are able to volunteer for this, please contact Gerry Morris at 417-1160.  We invite anyone available to attend and listen to the wonderful speaker at lunch (Father Ruane)!

HURRICANE RECOVERY WORK TRIP

Catholic Charities will be hosting our next Hurricane Recovery Work Trip March 23-28 to Pearlington, MS.  Participants may attend all or portions of the trip.  All skill levels are welcome, but skilled crew leaders are greatly needed.  Lodging/meals will be provided.  Volunteers must be at least 18 and we are limited to 10 people.  If interested, contact Theresa Prejean, Volunteer Coordinator, 601-326-3758 by March 12.
