BISHOPS 2007 CATHOLIC SERVICE APPEAL
Our prayers and pledges given to past Service Appeals helped to
bring about the ordination of three priests to serve our diocese. A big part of the Catholic Service Appeal is given
to Catholic Charities, which in turn is used to try to save the lives of the unborn. You might not be able to give a large one time
amount, you may be able to pledge a smaller amount each month. Whatever you do, remember the Lord is not outdone
in generosity.
FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to Andrew Cook, Victoria Menhal, Nolan Walker,
Dustin Willie, Dylan Willie, James Mardis, and Amelia Murphree who will be celebrating
their First Communion on Sunday, May 13. We
ask God to bless them, the most loved of his flock, the children.
SENIORS
We congratulate Beth Livingston, Cory Geiger, and Nick Palazzola
on their upcoming graduation. We know that
God will bless them, and we pray that they will remain faithful to the Lord and to their
faith. We hope they will be able to join us
as we honor them at mass on Sunday, May 20.
MAY AND MARY
Were hoping that our church family will make every effort
to participate in our special service this Sunday, May 6, at 6:00 pm, in honor of our
blessed mother. Immediately following the
service, we will have a hamburger supper in the Family Life Center. We invite everyone to come join us for a good
meal.
We have included an insert in the bulleting this week on how to
pray the Rosary. The great rosary priest,
Father Peyton, coined the phrase which became nationally famous, The family that
prays together stays together. The
Rosary is primarily the story of the life of Christ, the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious
parts of his life, the mysteries of light highlight the important events in the life of
Christ. The blue bookmark is included at the
request of Pete Marscalco, who has a great devotion to praying the Rosary. Thanks to Pete for providing both of these
inserts for our parishioners.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations
to Adelfia Marascalco on the occasion of her 80th birthday May 4. She was a very sick child, and attributes her
recovery of health to our blessed mother whom she felt visited her during her illness. Not only did she survive her sickness, but she
gave birth to eight children. God bless you
Adelfia on this special birthday and many, many more.
Flowers on the altar this weekend are given in her honor, by her loving children
and their families: Louis, Annette, Mary,
Jennie, Josephine, Margaret, and Tricia.
Congratulations
also to Kayla Parsons and Taylor Holland on their special accomplishments in the field of
Science. We are proud of these young people
and all our young people who do well.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN
In
accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People passed by the
U.S. bishops in Dallas, the Diocese of Jackson wishes to encourage any victim of sexual
abuse by a member of the Catholic Clergy to come forward and begin the healing process.
When an allegation is found to be credible, counseling will be offered, so that the
healing process can begin in accord with our present diocesan policy. We encourage any
victim to contact Mrs. Linda Raff, Victims Assistance Coordinator at 601-355-8634 Ext.
728.

CHOOSE LIFE
An assisted
suicide bill has again been introduced into the California legislature. Opponents of the bill say that legalizing assisted
suicide would turn physicians into killers rather that healers. To assist in suicide goes against the whole ethic
of the medical profession.
