FIRST COMMUNION

We pray God’s blessings on our little children making their First Communion this weekend.  It is a joy to welcome them to the table of the Lord to receive their first Holy Communion, the food and nourishment of their souls.  Congratulations to Andrew Cook, Victoria Menhal, Nolan Walker, Dustin Willie, Dylan Willie, James Mardis, and Amelia Murphree on this special occasion.  You are welcome to join us in the Family Life Center on Sunday after Mass for a reception honoring them.  May God bless these children and their families.

MOTHER’S DAY

Sincere congratulations to that lady we lovingly refer to as Mother.  In giving respect to our mother who cooperated in bringing us into this world, we are inspired by no less an example than Jesus Christ Himself, who loved and respected His mother.

ASCENSION THURSDAY

While Ascension Thursday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, this year the scripture readings for Ascension Thursday will be transferred to Sunday, May 20TH.  The Mass readings on Ascension Thursday will be for Thursday the sixth week of Easter.

SENIORS

Congratulation to our seniors graduating from High school. They are Beth Livingston, Cory Geiger, and Nick Palazzola.  We know that God will bless them, and we pray that they will remain faithful to the Lord and to their faith.  We hope to recognize them at Mass next Sunday and honor them with a reception after Mass.

MAY CROWNING

Sincere gratitude to those who participated in our May Crowning last Sunday evening.  We had a very respectable turn out and many favorable remarks.  Thanks also to everyone who helped make our hamburger supper a success. All who attended had a great time. We hope those of our Church Family who missed it will be able to join us next year.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN

In accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People passed by the U.S. bishops in Dallas, the Diocese of Jackson wishes to encourage any victim of sexual abuse by a member of the Catholic Clergy to come forward and begin the healing process. When an allegation is found to be credible, counseling will be offered, so that the healing process can begin in accord with our present diocesan policy. We encourage any victim to contact Mrs. Linda Raff, Victims Assistance Coordinator at 601-355-8634 Ext. 728.

CHOOSE LIFE

A mother facing an unexpected pregnancy is often anxious and afraid. Those around her are called to be messengers of God’s Word in action and deed. Then she will experience Jesus’ promise: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you…Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
