TODAYS LITURGY
The Diocese of Jackson has transferred the observance of Ascension Thursday to this weekend. All readings
and responses will come from The Mass for The Ascension of The Lord. (page 100)
SENIORS
Congratulation to our seniors graduating from High school. They
are Beth Livingston, Cory Geiger, and Nick Palazzola.
We know that God will bless them, and we pray that they will remain faithful to the
Lord and to their faith. We are proud to
honor them at Mass today. Please join us in the Family Life Center for a reception after
Mass.
FIRST COMMUNION
Sincere
gratitude to all who worked so hard to make our First Holy Communion celebration so
beautiful and enjoyable. We rejoice again
with our children in the First Communion class.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN
In
accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People passed by the
U.S. bishops in Dallas, the Diocese of Jackson wishes to encourage any victim of sexual
abuse by a member of the Catholic Clergy to come forward and begin the healing process.
When an allegation is found to be credible, counseling will be offered, so that the
healing process can begin in accord with our present diocesan policy. We encourage any
victim to contact Mrs. Linda Raff, Victims Assistance Coordinator at 601-355-8634 Ext.
728.
CATHOLIC
SERVICE
Sincere
gratitude Fr Ruane joins Bishop Latino in thanking those who gave to the Catholic
Service Appeal and/or promising them an assurance of prayers. If you have not had an
opportunity yet to give to the CSA and you would like to envelopes are available in the
back of the church. You can mail it directly to the Diocese, or drop it in the offering.
CATHOLIC
CHARITIES WORK TRIP
Mark your calendars for Catholic
Charities June Work Trips! The next trip will be June 20-24 in Waveland/ Bay St.
Louis. Deadline to sign up is June 11. All skill levels are needed, especially
those with knowledge in home building and repair. Volunteers must be at least 18
years old. Meals and lodging will be
provided. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation but we can help
facilitate carpooling. Please call Theresa Prejean at 601.326.3758 or email theresa.prejean@catholiccharitiesjackson.org
if you need further details or want to sign up.
DAILY MASS
We are
constantly hoping that people will avail themselves of the great gift we have in daily
Eucharist. In 20 or 25 minutes, the Lord
speaks to us in Holy Scripture and invites us to dine with him as we receive His body and
blood at His table. Please join us at daily
mass whenever possible.
CHOOSE LIFE
Scientists
continue to find new, morally acceptable sources of stem cells for treatment of disease.
In early January, researchers at Wake Forest University reported that the stem cells they
drew from amniotic fluid donated by pregnant women hold much the same promise as embryonic
stem cells which can only be obtained by killing a human embryo.

DIOCESAN NEWS
The
Presbyteral Council of the Catholic Diocese of Jackson has unanimously approved an
increase in priests salary. The new
salary, effective July 1, will be $825 per month, an increase of $35 per month. Congratulations to Father Ruane on his much
deserved raise!
SCHOOL IS OUT
I encourage
parents of school children, when at all possible from time to time, take your children to
church faithfully, and occasionally to daily mass. They
need and deserve it.
HOSPITAL
.. Due to the privacy act, hospitals no
longer provide a list of patients for our use as clergy.
Accordingly, I need your assistance. Please
call the parish office when you have a family member, a friend, or relative hospitalized
so that I may visit with them and pray with them.
