HAPPY 4th – We wish everybody a happy, peaceful and safe 4^th of July.

 

CONGRADULATIONS – We congratulate Cory Geiger who has signed a baseball scholarship at Mississippi Delta Community College.

 

SYMPATHY – We extend to Dr. John Marascalco and his family our sympathy, prayers, and support on the unexpected death of his good wife Lenora, may she rest in peace.

 

SINCERE GRADITUDE – The family of Elizabeth Daly wish to thank our parishioners for everything they did to make her farewell Mass very beautiful. Thanks for food, singing, prayers, visits, etc…

 

RIP – Your prayers are also requested for the repose of Bishop Latino’s brother, Anthony, and Father Pat Hays both of whom were laid to rest this week after suffering from the sickness of cancer. 

 

USHERS AND LECTORS – We thank our parishioners who serve as faithfully at ushers and lectors at Mass. We are always in need of additional ushers and lectors and if anyone is interested please call the rectory or let Father Ruane know.

 

CHOOSE LIFE – As we celebrate our nation’s birth, it is good to remember our founding principles, chief among which are the right to life, liberty and the pursuit to happiness. Legalized abortion has upset that balance, but the Supreme Court took a small step toward restoring it when, in a decision upholding a ban on partial birth abortions, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote, “The government may show its profound respect for the life within the woman.”  A statement to celebrate and hopefully a sign of greater respect to come.

 

CATHOLIC CHARITIES WORK TRIP - Catholic Charities Work Trips have been scheduled through August. Trip dates are: July 11-15, July 25-29 and August 9-15. Please visit our website at www.catholiccharitiesjackson.org for further information. Meals and lodging will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own transportation but carpooling can be arranged. All denominations and all skill levels (18 and older) are encouraged to attend. Those with construction and home repair experience are especially needed. Volunteers may attend all or portions of the trip. HOSPITAL VISITATION – Please call us at the rectory if you or a member of your family is in the hospital in Grenada or elsewhere. Hospitals have a privacy policy that doesn’t make known the people in the hospital. I would like to visit people while in the hospital if at all possible to pray with them and to give them a little encouragement.                                                   

 

SICK/HOMEBOUND/HOSPITALIZED - If you have anyone who is ill or homebound, or hospitalized please contact the rectory so they can be added to our prayer list, and Father Ruane can visit with them and pray with them.

 

REMEMBER – Unless we are happy with who we are we will never be happy with what we have….
