SINCERE GRADITUDE – To those who attended our bible
school teachers planning meeting on Thursday, 7/12/07. Teaching bible school is one of the
great ways of sharing our faith. We are hoping for more Volunteers for this ministry.
CONGRADULATION – Sincere congratulations to Matt and
Christie Strong whose infant child, Alexia Lynn, will be Born in the waters of Baptism
after the Vigil Mass on Saturday, 7/14/07.
NEW CRE – Donna Mumme has accepted the new
position of Director of Religious Education for St. Peter Parish. Donna and her family are
very active members of St. Peter’s. She has already been involved in teaching a bible
school class. We are grateful that Donna has offered her gifts to the Parish, and we look
forward to her leadership of ministries.
USHERS AND LECTORS – We thank our parishioners who serve as
faithfully at ushers and lectors at Mass. We are always in need of additional ushers and
lectors and if anyone is interested please call the rectory or let Father Ruane know.

CHOOSE LIFE – Columnist David Brooks in a New York
Times column, “Postures in Public, Facts in the womb,” writes that “the
abortion rights forces” cannot “even look [the issue of when life begins] in the
face. …’ They are terrified of having an honest discussion about human life, so
they have built this lofty etiquette of evasion that treats abortion as the moral
equivalent of a tonsillectomy.”

CATHOLIC CHARITIES WORK TRIP - Catholic
Charities Work Trips have been scheduled through August. Trip dates are: July 25-29 and
August 9-15. Please visit our website at www.catholiccharitiesjackson.org for
further information. Meals and lodging will be provided. Participants are responsible for
their own transportation but carpooling can be arranged. All denominations and all skill
levels (18 and older) are encouraged to attend. Those with construction and home repair
experience are especially needed. Volunteers may attend all or portions of the trip. To

HOSPITAL VISITATION – Please call us at the rectory if you
or a member of your family is in the hospital in Grenada or elsewhere. Hospitals have a
privacy policy that doesn’t make known the people in the hospital. I would like to
visit people while in the hospital if at all possible to pray with them and to give them a
little encouragement.
SICK/HOMEBOUND/HOSPITALIZED - If you have anyone who is ill or
homebound, or hospitalized please contact the rectory so they can be added to our prayer
list, and Father Ruane can visit with them and pray with them.
