A SPECIAL GIFT
We have as part of our Catholic Faith
made available to us
almost every day the beautiful gift of the Eucharist. [Mass] When we have the privilege of
sharing the scripture readings and dining with the Lord at His table when we receive His
Body and Blood, wouldnt it be wonderful if more of our people would share in this
gift.
NOTE: Daily Mass on Thursday will now be
celebrated at 8:00am because of a rather poor
CHANGE:
attendance at the 6:00pm Mass.
CYO MEETING
there will be a CYO meeting today
after Mass to discuss the CYO convention, which is Feb. 6th and 7th.
NOTE: CYO adds are available to anyone interested in sponsoring a CYO member
for Convention Adds are available from $10.00 to $300.00 both business and personal Adds
are available. Please see Lynn Bennett for more information.
PLEASE
Remember in your prayers Catherine
Jones from Gore Springs who was in a serious auto accident. She is in the hospital in
Memphis at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center but thankfully she is doing a little better.
Also remember Mary Mardis in River Oaks Hospital in Brandon, and Bob Smith who is
recovering from Knee surgery in the Baptist Hospital in Jackson.
BIBLE SCHOOL Now that Bible School has resumed, we
again encourage all of our children to participate in these classes. We are
always disappointed when some of our children are absent for varying reasons.
2009 Offertory Envelopes
for registered parishioners can be picked up in the vestibule.
Please call the Parish Office if you do not find your envelopes or if you are new to the
parish and need envelopes.
THE R.C.I.A. will begin this Tuesday January 13th
immediately after the 6:00pm Mass.
The Topic
will be: The Introduction to the Sacraments of our Church and the Sacrament of
Baptism.
FAITH ENRICHMENT
There will be a Faith Enrichment
workshop for all who participated in the first session of
Why Catholic? and any other interested person. The convenient workshop
for us here in Grenada will be at St. Francis of Assisi in Greenwood, Jan. 11, 2009 from
3:30pm to 6:30pm.
CHOOSE LIFE
Those who support a womans supposed right to
end the life of her unborn child might want to reflect on how they will be able to explain
their position to the victims of abortion when we meet them face to face in the next
life--which we most certainly will.
________________________QUOTES FOR
THE WEEK_____________________________
1. Life is rather like a tin of sardines:
were all of us looking for the key.
Alan Bennett,
[b.1934] in Beyond the Fridge
2. When Pope John XXIII succeeded Pius XII
in 1958, an observer summed up the general feeling with, Quel altro (the other
fellow) was closer to God, but questo (this fellow) is closer to us.
3. A cynic is a man who knows the
price of everything and the value of nothing. Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
NOTE: The Jr. CYO will resume meeting
this Wednesday in the Family Life Center at 6:00pm.
