Respect Life Sunday
Father Martin Ruane, Pastor
www.olesouth.net/stpeter email: stpeter@cableone.net
Because
Our plans for the kick-off breakfast
had to be put on hold, because the dates clashed with the large K of C initiation. Because
these are nice and happy occasions and very well attended, we will be having one in the
very near future, after the bible school classes get started.
Confirmation
Even though we are not planning for
Confirmation this year it is very, very important that all our eligible
young people participate in our religious classes each Sunday morning at 10:15am.
Why Catholic?
We had a reasonably good response to
our sign-up to Why Catholic? Small community groups will begin the
week of October 4th or 11th or whenever the leader chooses.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The R.C.I.A. will resume in the fall.
If you know of anyone interested in the R.C.I.A., or for more information, please call the
Rectory at 662-226-2490 or let Karla know. RCIA is basically a detailed course of
instruction on the Catholic Faith, composed of three parts; 1st Period:
A time of questions and answers from the people interested. 2nd
Period: The teaching and explanation of the main doctrine of the Church Faith. 3rd
Period: Spiritual growth normally taking place during the Holy Season of Lent.
Father Ruane
Fr. Ruane has been invited to the First
Methodist Church in Grenada, to speak to their young people at their morning gathering on
October 20th at 7:00am.
Coffee and Donuts
We continue our coffee and donuts
after Mass this Sunday. We encourage our people to stop by for a little fellowship and the
opportunity to get to know one another a little better.
Choose Life
As we celebrate Respect Life Sunday,
the words of the late pro-life hero, Rep. Henry Hyde, are as true today as when spoken on
the floor of the House of Representatives in 2000: We are knee deep in a culture of
death
In this advanced democracy, is it our crowning achievement that we have
learned to treat people as things? Our moment in history is marked by a mortal conflict
between a culture of Life and a culture of death. (NRL
News, 12/07)
PLEASE REMEMBER TURN YOUR
CELLPHONE OFF WHILE IN CHURCH!
Thank you for you cooperation.
Bible School
Sincere gratitude to the children
their parents and teachers who participated with Fr. Ruane with our little kick-off
program in church Sunday before last Sunday. While we were happy with the response of all
who participated, not all were present.
Please
we still have a number of children
who are not registered in our bible school classes and we continue to hope, pray and beg
all of our eligible children to participate.
