NEW YEARToday the first Sunday of Advent we begin a new Liturgical Church Year. Following Year B - Sunday Cycle, Year One - Weekday Cycle.

PARISH NEWCOMERS WELCOME We encourage all of our new parish family members to try to be with us for our Christmas Supper, so that we can acknowledge them and welcome them. This will include anybody who has come to our parish in the last year or two.

PARISH           As a fitting preparation to welcome the good Lord into our hearts and souls for Christmas,

PENANCE      we are asking and encouraging you to participate in our Reconciliation Service, and make a SERVICE        good confession for Christmas.

SINCERE GRADATUDE…We are grateful and thankful to the several priests who will be with us for our Penance Service, Fathers, Jerry Hurley, Pat Noonan, Gregory Plata, Samuel Messina, Thomas Delaney, and Fr. Martin Ruane. We are expected to feed these priests it would be a shame not to make them work first by having a large number of our people come to this service.

PARISH   This is usually one of the most exciting events for our Church Family. We again want to share food,
CHRISTMAS   fun, and fellowship and we are again hoping that the Catholic Santa Clause will make an
SUPPER   appearance. Even though we have somewhat of a recession, we are hoping that he will find some
candy for our children.                  Date: December 14th

Place: St. Peter Family Life Center, Beginning at 6:00pm

Knights of Columbuswill be raffling off tickets for the hand made leaded glass Sean of the Madonna. John Artman has donated this stain glass portrait of Mary and the Baby Jesus. The drawing will be held on Dec. 14th at our Christmas dinner. Tickets will be $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. All proceeds will go the CYO for the use in traveling to their up coming convention.

C.  Our young people are anxious to participate in the CYO Convention, which comes up in the near future. Like

Y. every thing else the cost has gone up rather severely. We want our young people to attend and together with

O. some of the parents, we thought it would be a great idea to have a bake sale in conjunction with our Christmas

      Parish Supper, details later.

R.C.I.A. You are invited to join us this Tuesday evening after the 6:00pm Mass to continue our discussion of our Catholic Faith. Discussion this week: Sins and God’s Forgiveness.

FAITH ENRICHMENTThere will be a Faith Enrichment workshop for all who participated in the first session of  “Why Catholic?” and any other interested person. The convenient workshop for us here in Grenada will be at St. Francis of Assisi in Greenwood, Jan. 11, 2009 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

WHY CATHOLIC? We feel that most of our groups have completed, or are close to completing the first session of “Why Catholic?” and we sincerely encourage everybody to complete the first session of the program.

CHOOSE LIFE…“Over more than two centuries of our national history, we Americans have been a people who have struggled to widen the circle of those for whom we acknowledge a common responsibility. … This great trajectory in our national experience, that of inclusion, has been shattered by Roe v. Wade and its progeny. By denying an entire class of human beings the protection of the laws, we have betrayed the best in our tradition.” (Henry Hyde, former U.S. Congressman)

                                                                      Church’s Make Bloopers Too!!

1. At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be “What is Hell?” Come early, and listen to our Choir practice.  2. The Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children. 3. The eighth-graders will be performing Shakespeare’s Hamlet in the church basement on Friday.  The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy. 4. For those who have children and don’t know it, we have a new nursery. 5. Eight new choir robes are urgently needed, due to the addition of several new members and the deterioration of some older ones.
