HEALING MASSWe are all mindful of the fact that Jesus Christ does much of

the healing when we are sick. For this reason I would like to start a Mass of Healing on

the first Friday of each month at 10:00am. A Mass of Healing is completely different from

the anointing that takes place in the case of serious sickness. I’m hoping that many of our

people will avail of this opportunity and we are hoping to have a little brunch and fellowship afterwards.

HOLY SEASON OF LENT Ash Wednesday, which begins the Holy Season of Lent, is a day of fast and abstinence [1 full meal & 2 snacks]. The Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence with the exception of Good Friday, which is a day of fast and abstinence.

PLEASE *  During the Holy Season of Lent we will have

NOTE *      The Way of the Cross and Holy Communion each Friday evening at 6:15pm.

Please note, that on the First Friday after church services we will have; 1st Fri. Gumbo, on Feb. 27th.

The 2nd Friday, two soups, Potato and Broccoli Cheese on March 6th.  The 3rd Friday on April 3rd Catfish.

PLEASElet us all make a genuine effort to make Lent a special time in Our Church.

  1. Daily Mass when possible.                                      5. Prayer when possible in the home with the family.
  2. Participating in “Why Catholic?”                            6. A kinder, gentler people.
  3. Participating in the Mass of Healing.                    7. Less negative gossip.
  4. A good confession by participating in                     8. More kindness, compassion, and affirmation.

       our Penance Service.

Red Beans and Riceour Church Family is invited to participate in a red beans and rice supper this Tuesday evening after the 6:00pm Mass. This is traditionally known as Fat Tuesday, to eat all you want and all you can before the Holy Season of Lent begins. The Knights will prepare the red beans and rice and the church Family are to bring anything they wish except soft drinks. If you want to fix a pancake I’ll bet Fr. Ruane gets to it first.

“WHY CATHOLIC?”- The second section of  “Why Catholic?” will start the week of February 22nd.  The group participants, meeting times, days and locations remain the same as your first session, unless you have been notified otherwise. The book is the same as before. Any new participants, please call Gerry Morris; 417-1160

THE R.C.I.A. will meet this Thursday night February 26th at 6:30pm, instead of this Tuesday, to avoid a clash with the Red Beans and Rice Supper. The Topic will be: The Sacrament of Conformation…etc.
