LENT - This Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, we begin the Holy season of Lent.

Masses will be at 8:00am and 6:15pm.

FAST AND ABSTINENCE – Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and Abstinence, as are all the Friday’s of Lent. Fast and Abstinence as you probably know are, one (1) full meal and two (2) snacks, no meat.

FRIDAY’S OF LENT – In addition to our regular Masses we will have Stations of the Cross and Holy Communion each Friday in Lent, beginning at 6:15pm.

SAINT BLASÉ – Because the Feast of St. Blasé falls on Sunday this year it is not celebrated, however, Fr. Ruane with the help of the Eucharist Ministers will bless the throats after Mass on Saturday and Sunday.

FLOWERS AND MUSIC – During Lent flowers are not to be used to decorate the Altar, with the exception of the forth Sunday of Lent, Solemnities and Feast. Music instruments are used only to support the singing with the same exceptions as above.

MARDI GRAS – The Knights of Columbus will be preparing their favorite dish red beans and rice on fat Tuesday the night before Ash Wednesday. This will take place approximately at 6:30pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, right after the 6:00pm Mass.

Please Note: Parishioners are encouraged to bring salads and if the children don’t like red beans and rice, hot dogs will be provided.

R.C.I.A. – Because of the conflict with the red beans and rice dinner, we will be unable to meet this Tuesday. It is very important that we all plan for the following Tuesday, Feb. 12th right after the evening Mass.

Topic: The Sacrament of Reconciliation.

CHOOSE LIFE – “Like many post-abortive women, post-abortive men typically do not immediately recognize the moral and spiritual gravity of their action or inaction. Counselors tell us that as the realization gradually unfolds, many men react with rage, which has to be channeled, and a gut-wrenching sorrow so overwhelming it can, if not healed, emotionally paralyze a man forever.” (Dave Andrusko, NRL News, 5/07)

CYO – The t-shirts which some of you ordered that cost ($15.00ea.) will be available next Sunday February 10th. Please check with Lisa Thomas.

CYO CONVENTION – We pray God’s blessings on our young people and also on Wesley and Lisa Thomas, Charlie and Donna Walker the adults that will be accompanying them,

CURSILLO WEEKENDS SCHEDULED – Cursillo, open to adult Catholics, is a time of spiritual renewal for deepening one’s faith and commitment to parish ministry.
