WAY OF THE Cross  - Won’t you please make a genuine effort to relive again the journey Christ followed on 

the road to Calvary each Friday evening at 6:15pm and also to receive the Lord in Holy Communion.

 

THE SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR RETIRED PRIESTS is scheduled for next weekend, March 28th and 29th. The assessment for our parish this year is $2,000.00, which goes into the Retirement Fund. We encourage parishioners to be generous to this collection, which helps support our retired priests. Many of our priests have labored in our Diocese for 50+ years and are now retired and depend on this offering. Our parish is assessed for $2,000.00. Please try to be generous. This offering will be taken up the weekend of March 29. 

 

NO CONFUSION  - It seems many of our people are anxious to get some Seafood Gumbo. To clarify the situation and to avoid any confusion the Gumbo will be prepared by Chef Mumme, and will be served on March 27th after our Lenten Services.     

 

LENTEN FRIDAY   Each Friday during the Holy Season of Lent, [with the exception of, the 1st Friday of 

 AT ST. PETER        each month,] we will have Mass at 8:00am, Stations of the Cross, scripture reading,

                                        a short meditation followed by Holy Communion beginning at 6:15pm.

 

WHY CATHOLIC?”… We are encouraging our people to make every effort to participate in the “Why Catholic?” Retreat next Sunday, March 22, 2009.        Place: Immaculate Heart of Mary in Greenwood.

                                                                                       Time: 3:30pm to 6:30pm.    

 

PLEASElet us all make a genuine effort to make Lent a special time in Our Church.

1. Daily Mass when possible.                                    5. Less negative gossip.             

2. Participating in “Why Catholic?”                          6. Prayer when possible in the home with the family.                              

3. Participating in the Mass of Healing.                  7. More kindness, compassion, and affirmation.

4. A kinder, gentler people.                                        8. A good confession by participating in our Penance Service.

      

HOLY SEASON OF LENT - All the Fridays of the Holy Season of Lent are days of Abstinence.

 

CHOOSE LIFE An Oregon court recently decided that a woman had the right to kill frozen embryos as part of the property in a divorce settlement.
