CHRISM MASS The Chrism Mass will be on Tuesday, March 18th at St Peter Cathedral. With the limited space at
the Cathedral parking lot, everyone is encouraged to park in the AmSouth parking lot
located on Amite Street, just above the Marriott. The fee is $2.00 per hour. Limited
parking is also available on the street. Visitors using the Cathedral parking lot must be
sensitive not to block in anyone when parking. Regular patrons parking there need to be
able to get to their cars.
GOOD FRIDAY Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics in good
health who are age 14 and older are obliged to abstain from meat. In addition, they are
limited to one full meal, and two smaller snacks.
MISSISSIPPI CATHOLIC We encourage our
parishioners to renew their subscription to our Diocesan Newspaper, Mississippi Catholic,
the bishop asks that it be sent to each family and if you fail to pay your subscription,
the parish is billed for that amount.
CONGRADULATIONS We congratulate Cheri and
Dr. Joe Messina whos infant child will be reborn in the Holy Waters of Baptism on
Palm Sunday at 3:00pm. A reception to which all relatives and friends are invited will
take place immediately after the baptism in the Family Life Center.
HOLY LAND COLLECTION - A special collection will be taken up on Good Friday for the support of the Churchs work in the Holy
Land. During this time of turmoil the plight and suffering of Palestinian Christians has
become desperate. Our support of the work of the Church in the Holy Lands is even more
important than ever.
Please Note Traditionally in the past weve had Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament until midnight. Because of a lack
of participation of people coming to participate in Adoration, (especially from eleven to
midnight). We are hoping that our people will participate until 11:00 oclock. As you
know the Blessed Sacrament should never be placed for Adoration without somebody being
present.
CHOOSE LIFE The cloak of silence
surrounding abortion has left couples
struggling alone to understand and respond to
relationship challenges in the aftermath of an abortion. An essential first step toward
change is open acknowledgment of the dark potential of abortion to disrupt
individuals lives and wreak havoc on intimate bonds. (Priscilla K. Coleman, Ph.D.)
