Time: 6:00pm
SERVICE of the wonderful Sacrament
of reconciliation. Place:
St. Peter Catholic Church
Visiting Priests
Sincere gratitude to
Fathers, Gerard Hurley, Sam Messina, Patrick Noonan and Michael OBrien.
WAY OF THE Cross - Wont you please make
a genuine effort to relive again the journey Christ followed on
the road to Calvary each
Friday evening at 6:15pm and also to receive the Lord in Holy Communion.
HOLY SEASON OF LENT - All the Fridays of the Holy
Season of Lent are days of Abstinence.
THE SPECIAL COLLECTION
FOR RETIRED PRIESTS is scheduled for next
weekend, 3/28/09 and 3/29/09. We encourage parishioners to be generous to this
collection, which helps support our retired priests. Many of our priests have labored in
our Diocese for 50+ years and are now retired and depend on this offering. Our parish is
assessed for $2,000.00. Please try to be generous. This offering will be taken up next
weekend.
LENTEN FRIDAY Each Friday during the Holy
Season of Lent, [with the exception of, the 1st Friday of
AT ST. PETER each month,] we will have Mass at 8:00am,
Stations of the Cross, scripture reading,
a
short meditation followed by Holy Communion beginning at 6:15pm.
CATFISH SUPPER
The Knights of Columbus
are sponsoring a Catfish Supper Friday April 3rd. We hope that our people will
come to Church first, including the Knights, if possible, and then we can all get together
and have camaraderie and fellowship at the Family Life Center.
WHY CATHOLIC?
We are encouraging our
people to make every effort to participate in the Why Catholic? Retreat this
Sunday, March 22, 2009. Place: Immaculate Heart of
Mary in Greenwood.
Time: 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
NO CONFUSION - It seems many of our people
are anxious to get some Seafood Gumbo. To clarify the situation and to avoid any confusion
the Gumbo will be prepared by Chef Mumme, and will be served on March 27th
after our Lenten Services.
PLEASE
let us all make a genuine
effort to make Lent a special time in Our Church.
1. Daily Mass when
possible.
5. Less negative gossip.
2. Participating in
Why Catholic?
6. Prayer when possible in the home with the family.
3. Participating in the Mass
of Healing.
7. More kindness, compassion, and affirmation.
4. A kinder, gentler people.
8. A good confession by participating in our Penance Service.
CHOOSE LIFE
The prominent Lutheran
pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer clearly described the act of abortion: The simple fact is
that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has
been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.
THE R.C.I.A. will meet this Tuesday night, March 24th
at 6:30pm, the topic: a little on Baptism and a lot on Holy Week.
FATHER RUANE
will be speaking this
Wednesday, 3/25/09 at the First Methodist Church in
Grenada, and on Monday of Holy Week, 4/6/09 at the First Presbyterian Church, both
Services will be at 12:00pm noon.
