The Catholic Service Appeal
Bishop
Latino has designated the weekend of May 3rd as the date for the annual
Catholic Service Appeal. Almost half of the monies for the Appeal support the work of
Catholic Charities in our diocese, which works with up to fifteen different ministries to
help people in various types of needs and crisis. The Appeal also supports the education
of priests and the health care of retired priests. The
bishop is making a special plea to all our parishioners to support this appeal and so
imitate Christs love for the Church.
CONFIRMATION
We are
happy to welcome our young people who are to receive the Sacrament of
Confirmation

Gods Blessings on these people at this very important time in their lives, and we
are asking for the support of their parents to participate in every way possible in
preparation for this Sacrament.

CHOOSE LIFE
Researchers Find Safer Methods
to Reprogram Adult Stem Cells. This recent headline describing adult stem cell
research that does not involve killing embryos joins those announcing breakthroughs with
adult stem cells from bone marrow, skin, and placentas. Meanwhile the word of embryonic
stem cell research keeps demanding more money while producing negligible results.
