HOLY WEEK SERVICEPlease refer to Holy Week Schedule insert (purple paper) from last weeks bulletin.

EASTER GREETINGS…I take this opportunity to wish all of our people a happy and Christ filled Easter, and Easter season.  May the risen Christ give us the joy and peace that we can receive only through Him.  Let us continue to remember those less well off than we are, the sick, the hurting, and the suffering.  God’s blessing to all! – MR.

A HAPPY FOR THE CHILDREN… We have planned an extra Happy for our children. We began this last year and it seemed to be tremendously popular. In place of an Easter Egg Hunt we will be inviting all of our children and their parents to gather in front of the Church on Easter morning after Mass. Among our surprises will be a show of love for our children and their Bible School Teachers.

FATHER RUANEwill be speaking this Monday of Holy Week 4/6/09, at the First Presbyterian Church, Services will be at 12:00pm noon.

WELCOME &             It is with great joy we welcome, Linda Gravlee, Jennifer Liberto, Desiree Cook, Valerie CONGRATULATIONS     Holmes, and Roseann Flem who will be entering and reentering our St. Peter Catholic

Church Family on Holy Saturday night through The Sacrament of Initiation, Baptism, Communion, and Eucharist.

CHRISM MASS – The Chrism Mass will be on Tuesday, April 7th at St Peter Cathedral. With the limited space at the Cathedral parking lot, everyone is encouraged to park in the Am South parking lot located on Amite Street, just above the Marriott. The fee is $2.00 per hour. Limited parking is also available on the street. Visitors using the Cathedral parking lot must be sensitive not to block in anyone when parking. Regular patrons parking there need to be able to get to their cars.

GOOD FRIDAY – Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics in good health who are age 14 and older are obliged to abstain from meat. In addition, they are limited to one full meal, and two smaller snacks.

HOLY LAND COLLECTION - A special collection will be taken up on Good Friday for the support of the Church’s work in the Holy Land. During this time of turmoil the plight and suffering of Palestinian Christians has become desperate. Our support of the work of the Church in the Holy Lands is even more important than ever.

Please Note – Traditionally in the past we’ve had Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until midnight. Because of a lack of participation of people coming to participate in Adoration, (especially from eleven to midnight). We are hoping that our people will participate until 11:00 o’clock. As you know the Blessed Sacrament should never be placed for Adoration without somebody being present.

FOOD ITEMSSome of our “Why Catholic?” groups have talked to Fr. Ruane about non-perishable food items which will help the needy of our community. A large box for this purpose will be in the room directly behind the Rectory. [Old AA Room] Please place your non-perishable items in this box and they in return will be given to the Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.

CHOOSE LIFE “In today’s world of medical technology and pain control, the understandable fear of pain and death as one faces the end of their life should never lead to suicide—physician-assisted or otherwise.”  Jennifer Popic, J.D., NRL News, Nov.-Dec., 2008

LITURGICAL APPOINTMENTS - Please contact the church office to participate in the Liturgy.
