GREETINGS FROM IRELAND – Father Ruane
sends his warmest good wishes from Ireland….. “Enjoying 75 deg…Sunshine… not as
severe as 100+ you are all having. See you next week, God willing.
God Bless and take care.” M.R.
Catholic University Of America – Next Sunday is the annual
Diocesan Collection for the national university of the Catholic Church in the
United States – The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Founded
in 1887, CUA offers undergraduate, graduate, professional and doctoral degrees
in more than 50 disciplines. The collection underwrites scholarships to help
financially deserving students complete their educations at CUA. Please give

LIKE TODAY’S GOSPEL – Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will
attempt to enter but will not be strong enough. (Lk
13:24)
Jesus
warns that all are invited to feast in God’s kingdom, but not all will choose
to come. The gate is narrow, the road is hard, and we are sometimes tempted to
sit at home in comfort and dine at the table of our own will rather than to
make the attempt. Let us pray for the grace to accept Jesus’ call to us to
become good and faithful disciples, walking in his ways.
CHOOSE LIFE – “At the end of our own lives, each of us should have
the liberty of spirit to be a ‘burden’ to our loved ones and our family. That’s
what love means. When each of us was born, we were a ‘burden’ to our parents
for many years. Our parents and grandparents should feel no pressure about
‘quick exits.’ They should know that their family and friends will be there for
them, loving them and journeying with them into the mystery of death.” (Rev. Tadeusz
Pacholczyk, Ph.D. in The Southern Cross, 3/9/06)
CATHOLIC
CHARITIES – Catholic charities would like to invite you on
our next hurricane rebuilding trip. Please join us Sept. 19-23 in Pass
Christian. All skill levels are welcome but we appeal especially to those with
home building knowledge and experience. Volunteers must be at least 18. Meals
and lodging will be provided but individuals are responsible for
transportation. Carpooling can be arranged and volunteers can attend all or
portions of the trip. For information or to sign up, contact Theresa Prejean at
601-326-3758 or theresa.prejean@catholiccharitiesjackson.org.

always in need of additional ushers and lectors and if anyone is interested
please call the rectory or let Father Ruane know.
