Many Thanks
to Father Al Camp for filling in for Father Ruane while
he was on vacation. We wish him well for the coming year and hope to see him again next
year. Thank You
IF For Any Reason
you may need a priest for
an emergency while I am on vacation please call Fr. Al Camp at 601-951-3063, Fr.
Sam Messina at 662-563-2273 or call Fr. Greg Plata 662-453-0623. MR
Healing Mass
Father Ruane will be home, so we will
have Mass on the first Friday of this month. Friday September the 4th at
10:00am. We are encouraging as many people as possible to participate in this Mass of
Healing, where we pray God for health of mind, soul and body. Our Knights of Columbus will
furnish a little breakfast so we can have time for fellowship and conversation.
The Bishops Cup
Are you registered to play
in the 27th
Annual Bishops Cup Golf Tournament at 12:30pm on Wednesday, September 16th? Its not too late. Registration forms are in
the back of the church. See if your parish can underscore IHM Greenwood, last
years winner, to bring the Bishops Cup to your parish. The net proceeds will
help the Foundation and benefit the Northeast office of Catholic Charities. For more
information, call (601) 960-8487.
The Catholic University
of America
is the
national university of the Catholic Church in the United States, located in Washington,
D.C. It provides an academically rigorous education guided by Catholic intellectual
tradition to 6,000 students every year. Next week is the National Collection for The
Catholic University of America. Every dollar given directly supports financial aid for
students from dioceses across the country, including ours. Please be generous.
Choose Life
Regarding the NIH guidelines
authorizing destruction of human embryos for research, Cardinal Justin Rigali, Chairman of
the U.S. bishops Pro-Life Secretariat, said: Without unconditional respect for the
life of each and every member of the human race, research involving human subjects does
not represent true progress. It becomes another way for some human beings to use and
mistreat others for their own goals. Suffering patients and their families deserve better,
through increased support for promising and ethically sound stem cell research and
treatments that harm no one. (USCCB statement 4/21/09)
Renew Why Catholic?
We will be signing up for
the next Why Catholic? in September. It should prove to be a very enjoyable,
interesting and educational journey of faith.
