NEW YEAR GREETING

We would like to wish everyone happiness, good health, good fortune, and good times together with family and friends.  Why don’t we make our slogan for the New Year “Nothing new, but everything better”.

BIBLE SCHOOL

We will not have Bible School this weekend.  Bible school classes will resume on January 7.

RCIA

The RCIA classes are currently out on break.  Due to Father Ruane’s priest reunion, they will resume at a later date.  Please watch next week’s bulletin for the date to start back.

DIOCESAN NEWS

Catholic Radio - I am pleased to announce that The Catholic Channel on Sirius Satellite Radio is on the air!  Our first official broadcast was Mass for the first Sunday of Advent from Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and our regular programming kicked off the next day, Monday, December 4.  We're up and running, and I hope that anyone with a Sirius radio will tune to Channel 159 to give us a listen.  Here's a link to our Catholic Channel webpage.  (From Joseph Zwilling, Director of Communications - Archdiocese of New York. 212-371-1011 ext. 2997)

WORLD MARRIAGE DAY is Sunday, February 12, 2007.  Couples celebrating their 25th, 50th, or 60th wedding anniversary in 2007, please call Carolyn at the rectory, so that you can be included in a special mass and celebration with the bishop at St. Peter Cathedral on World Marriage Day.

THINKING OF PRIESTHOOD? - For those thinking about the priesthood, a Jackson-area group meets periodically for prayers and discussion about faith and vocation – with no commitment or expectations – just the opportunity to connect with others who have similar interests and questions.  CONTACT:  Father Kent Bowlds, vocation director, 601-944-9844, frkent@bellsouth.net.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

If you would like to contribute to the Chris Harris Scholarship Fund, please send memorials to Knights of Columbus, PO Box 1822, Grenada, MS 38901.

LIFE

Life is a God-given gift.  Given by God, with the cooperation of man and woman, this gift since given by God is to be taken away only by God.  Let us pray for a great respect for the gift of life, especially the most defenseless of God’s family, the little ones not yet come into our world.
