BIBLE SCHOOL (CCD)

We begin our Bible School year today by  celebrating Catechetical Sunday.  We will have a special ceremony during mass where we recognize and bless our Bible School teachers.  Please give them your support as they work to teach our children our beautiful Catholic faith.  Bible School begins at 10:15 am.  Please be prompt.  The classes will end at 11:15.

CYO

We will kick-off the CYO year with a cook-out at Charlie and Donna Walker’s on Sunday, September 17th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  All youth in grades 7 through 12 are invited to attend.  The address is 416 Country Ridge Rd.  Contact Lisa Thomas, Donna Walker, or Jeannie Logan for more information.

RCIA

Father Ruane is still hoping and waiting for you to give him the names of anyone who may be interested in coming to his RCIA classes.  These classes are very laid back, totally free of stress and anxiety, and have proven to be very enjoyable!  Contact Father Ruane if you are interested, or would like some more information.  If you have a name you wish to submit, the forms are on the altar and can be picked up after mass.

HOSPITAL…….. Due to the privacy act, hospitals no longer provide a list of patients for our use as clergy.  Accordingly, I need your assistance.  Please call the parish office when you have a family member, a friend, or relative hospitalized so that I may visit with them and pray with them.   –Fr. Ruane

FLOWERS

Flowers on the altar this weekend are given in loving memory of Joe. L. and Mary Marascalco, by Rose Marie Marascalco, Frank Marascalco and family, and Catherine Foti.

OUR FATHER

Have you ever realized that the words ‘I’, ‘my’ and ‘me’ do not occur once in the Lord’s Prayer?  Yet while saying ‘Our Father’, it is easy to mean only ‘my Father’; to utter the words ‘give us this day our daily bread’ and still think only in terms of ‘give me my daily bread’.  These lines of Charles Thompson may help you avoid the tendency to be self-centered while praying:

You can not pray the Lord’s Prayer, and even once say ‘I’.

You can not pray the Lord’s Prayer, and even once say ‘My’.

Nor can you pray the Lord’s Prayer, and not pray for another;

For when you ask for daily bread, you must include your brother.

For others are included in each and every plea:

From the beginning to the end of it, it does not once say ‘Me’.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Toni Meredith on the birth of  her grandson.  Alan Keith Stanford was born on August 30.  His parents are Angie and Kevin Stanford.
