LENT

Please remember that Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence.  Catholics who have celebrated their 14^th birthday are to abstain from meat on all Fridays in Lent.

 

GROUNDBREAKING

We will celebrate the groundbreaking for our new Parish Hall on Sunday, April 9^th at 3:00 at the building site.  We are hoping that all our church family can join us as we share in this happy occasion!

Community Service – Some of our parishioners will be catering the luncheon for the community Holy Week services at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday.  Father Ruane will be participating in this service.  They will be serving a light lunch at 11:30. Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Seder Supper/Potluck – Wednesday, April 12 at 6:30.  Bring your favorite dish.

 

DIOCESAN NEWS

In less than two months, with God’s blessings, three of our seminarians will be ordained to the priesthood.  What a bright light this is for our diocese!  Your pledges and gifts to the Catholic Service Appeal helped make this possible.  The CSA also defrays the rising costs of retirement and health care of our priests.  This week Bishop Joseph Latino’s letter to you will ask you to open your heart in prayer and sacrificial giving.  With Bishop Latino, I ask our parish to continue our support to recruit and educate our seminarians and to do our part for the retirement and welfare of our priests.

 

The Priest’s Council has recommended an increase in the priest’s salary of $50 a month, bringing it to $825, and an increase to bring the mileage allowance to 44.5 cents/mile.  The car allowance will remain at $350 per month.  The Bishop has affirmed and approved the recommendations of the Priest’s Council.  The increase in salary will be effective 7/1/06.  The increase in mileage was effective 3/1/06.

Knights of Columbus 3^rd  Degree meet every 2^nd and 4^th Sunday after coffee and doughnuts.  4^th Degree Knights meet every 3^rd Sunday.

LADIES AUXILIARY

The Ladies Auxiliary is selling raffle tickets for prizes to be given away at convention.  The proceeds will go to benefit Gulf Coast victims and churches.  They are also selling religious items and icons.  Any and all information in relation to the purchase of these articles can be obtained from Auxiliary members.

 

LAPSED CATHOLICS
