MAY CROWNING

Sincere gratitude to those who participated in our May Crowning last Sunday evening.  We had a very respectable turn out and many favorable remarks.  We hope to make this an annual tradition in our church.

 

MOTHER’S DAY

Sincere congratulations to that lady we lovingly refer to as Mother.  In giving respect to our mother who cooperated in bringing us into this world, we are inspired by no less an example than Jesus Christ Himself, who loved and respected His mother.

 

FIRST COMMUNION

Again, we congratulate our children and their parents and families on this very special day as they receive the Lord in Holy Communion for the first time.  We ask God to bless these children on this happy occasion as well as their families and friends.  Members of our First Communion class are Joey Badome, John Fortier, Jan Guilambo, Reese Lara, Jeremy Merriman, Tim Mumme, Kelli Parsons, Kristi Parsons, and Melissa Sones.  We invite everyone to join them and their families after mass for a reception in the CAB in celebration of this joyous event.

We welcome our Bishop, Bishop Latino, who will be with us this Tuesday evening to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on our young people.  We are also happy to have with us on this occasion the confirmation class from St. Thomas, in Lexington.  Our confirmandi are Mary Brunson, Samantha Cook, Rebecca Fuller, Martha Claire Garrick, Jeran Guilambo, Malorie Hipp, Beth Logan, Brittany Mullins, Madison Ray, and Ellen Thomas.  We ask God to bless all these young people and their families on this special occasion.

 

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

We celebrate the milestone of graduation with our high school seniors.  This is a great occasion for them and we congratulate them and ask God to bless them.  It would be nice if they were able to secure their cap and gown and sit together at mass on Sunday, May 21.  A reception honoring them will follow mass.  Our seniors this year are Brandon Clack, Destinee Dorris, Ryan Upchurch, Jeremy Bennett, Justin Bennett and Meg Logan.

 

DIOCESAN NEWS

Thank You – Last week, the people of our diocese opened their hearts to Bishop Joseph Latino’s request for gifts and pledges to our Catholic Service Appeal.  The response has been wonderful.  Anyone who has yet to contribute to our CSA this year, please take a pledge envelope home.  Place it in any parish offering collection, or mail it directly to Bishop Latino.  The CSA progress of our parish can be viewed daily at www.catholicserviceappeal.org.  Follow our parish to see if it will equal or exceed our total of last year.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Knights of Columbus 3rd  Degree meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday after coffee and doughnuts.  4th Degree Knights meet every 3rd Sunday.
