ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH

GRENADA, MS

JANUARUY 6, 2006

St. Peter’s Pastoral Council met on Monday, January 6, 2006 after the 6:00 p.m. Mass in the Education Building. Father opened the meeting with prayer. Those present were Cecilia Livingston, Frankie Fortier, Charlie Walker, Ben Logan, Anne Geiger, Rosemary Merriman, Valerie Kerwin, Julia Tartt, Matt Mumme, and Father Ruane.

Father Ruane requested that those who have completed their term on the Parish Council to stay a few more months.

Father also wanted to know what the plans were at this time for the CAB.  It was stated that the CAB will remain as is.

Ben Logan brought Father up to date on the plans for new parish hall.  It was stated that there was approximately $160,000 in the building fund at present.  The parish will need approximately $400,000 to pay for building.  The architect in Jackson has reviewed plans and has some questions.  Ben will be responding to these questions, and plans will be resubmitted by end of the week.

Discussion was held regarding the following items:

§         Updating church directory

§         Replacement of  back doors to church – the sacristy door and the door where altar servers dress

§         Hiring of part-time church secretary.  It was felt that having someone part-time would help the church run more smoothly and efficiently. Valerie Kerwin made a motion for a part-time secretary and Ben Logan seconded it.  It has been approved for Father to hire a part-time secretary.

§         AA meetings – Was this group paying rent any more?  At one time, AA was contributing an amount each month for the use of the room in the Education Building.

§         Discussion was held regarding rewiring upstairs for the choir for musical equipment and needs and installing a microphone in the cry room.  When Father is at the altar, he cannot be heard by those in the cry room.

With no further business, there was a motion to adjourn.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
